Grease is the new School Musical
Grease continues to Rock and Roll the Piccadilly Theatre becoming the venue's longest running production after over 800 performances. After the success of Sky One's Hairspray: The High School Musical reality TV show, this year Grease will feature as secondary school students get the chance to perform alongside cast members.
The stage show of Grease on television will come as no suprise to many people as the show is one of the most popular musicals in the West End. The current production opened on a wave of publicity with the leading roles won by Susan Mcfadden and Danny Bayne cast on ITV show Grease is the Word.
Ray Quinn was previously cast as Doddy but since winning ITV's Dancing on Ice, Quinn has stepped up to the leading role and proved a popular Danny Zuko.
Duncan James who will be starring in new musical Legally Blonde presents ‘Grease: The School Musical' from August when a group of secondary school children from Wallasey School in the Wirrall will embark on a challenging and emotional journey as they prepare to perform the hit show in a professional theatre. The students will be mentored by the casts creatives and star Ray Quinn will play a special role in helping the production take shape.
Of the original cast Bennett Andrews, Charlotte Bull and Jason Capewell all remain in the show, after playing Roger at the Piccadilly Theatre two years ago I can say first hand that there are very few shows that can match Grease for sheer, simple fun as the students of Wallasey School are about to find out!
