Join Sir Trevor Nunn and the cast of Les Miserables as they celebrate the world's longest running musical's 23rd Birthday!

Les Miserables is an epic, sweeping musical based on the novel by Victor Hugo. Based in 18th Century France it has a multitude of plots, bound together by the story of the ex-convict Jean Valjean who becomes a force for good in the world, but cannot escape his past. After 19 years in prison Jean Valjean is released only to find the world turns it's back on the ex-convict. He is taken in by a kindly Bishop but steals his silver. Caught in the streets the Bishop rescues him by pretending the silver was a gift and 'buys Valjean's soul'.
Charged with becoming an honest man the story moves to six years later where Valjean has assumed a pseudonym and is now a wealthy factory owner and the Mayor. His past returns to haunt him in the form of the Policeman Javert and so begins a chase that spans years; Javert hunting his man, Valjean determined to earn redemption.
Other characters emerge and fill the stage with love, comedy, daring and anger. There is a love triangle between young student Marius and Valjean's adopted daughter Cosette, whilst the street urchin Eponine looks on, her love unrequited. Enjolras rallies the student army to revolution as the cunning, criminal Thernardiers scuttle in the background like king rats.
Set against the backdrop of revolution and romance with truly timeless songs. Les Miserables is the world's longest running musical for many, many reasons.
